What is SmarterX?
SmarterX is a unique product in the market today, primarily designed to share USB or parallel port dongles between two or more computers. The device gives you the ability to run simultaneously copies of your application software on two or more computers using a single dongle. It requires NO software or driver installation on your PC. It is plug and go.

Stop moving your dongle around
Moving a dongle around between computers is kind of pain and requires lots of fumbling around under the desk. The dongle must be track down and disconnected from the parallel or USB port and it can be easily lost or stolen if it is constantly moved.

SmarterX offers you a neat solution to the above problems by providing a virtual and concurrent connection between the dongle and computers attached to the device. Since the dongle remains permanently attached to SmarterX the problems highlighted above are eliminated.

Is it legal?
SmarterX is a legitimate product that gives you the choice of running your licensed program on more than one machine, either one machine at a time (non-concurrent) or several machines at the same time (concurrent).

What is significant about SmarterX is that it can be used legally and within the terms of your license agreement. For instance, if you have more than one dongle concurrent sharing of anyone of your dongles using the device is legal and is with in the terms of your license agreement as long as the numbers of concurrent users do not exceed the number of dongles you have purchased. If you have a single dongle (single user license) you can still use the device legally providing you run your software on multiple computers non-concurrently and thus stay within the terms of your single user license agreement (non-concurrent means running your program on one machines at a time).

SmarterX is NOT intended as a means to defeat the main purpose of a hardware key (dongle), which is to provide protection against the menace of software piracy (illegal distribution and reproduction of software). The device is not a dongle emulator or a replacement for your dongle. It does not interfere with your software or your license file. It is only useful if it is used with your dongle and your legally purchased application software.

Please Note: SmarterX allows applications software to run concurrently* on multiple PCs using a single dongle. If you have a single user license you may use the device in a non-concurrent mode in order to keep within the terms of your software license. This device works with all makes of parallel port dongles. Your dongle is automatically available to four users running the same application software at the same time*.

The device can be cascaded to share your dongle between 7 machines. No switches to set, no software to install, just plug in your computers and your dongle to the device and you're ready to go! It's that easy!

SmarterX is transparent to other dongles. That means several dongles can be attached to the device and shared by multiple users.

The device can be operated at a distance of 30 meters (100 feet) from a remote computer. A standard parallel port data cable can be used to connect the device to a computer. We can supply suitable data cables and extension cables of various length.

This two port device works with all makes of USB dongles. It works by providing a virtual connection between the dongle and two computers attached to it, meaning the dongle is seen by both machins at the same time. Because of this virtual connection you are able to run your licensed software on both computers concurrently using a single dongle.

The device is a hardware based solution and requires no driver or software installation.

When using standard USB A/B cables the distance between the device and the remote computers can be up to 10 meters long. However, this distance can be increased to around 40 meters (120 feet) when using a low cost USB active extender. More expensive types of USB active extenders are capable of extending the distance to over 200 meters (600 feet).

Access to the device via Internet or local area network is also possible when using "USB Over Network/Internet" software. In this instance there is no limit to how far your remote computer is situated.
